ABOUT US

Conquistador Entertainment was founded in March 1993 as a foreign sales and distribution company for film and television product. In 2006, the company was officially renamed Conquistador Worldwide Media , reflecting its increased participation in financing and production.

To date, Conquistador has raised the financing for more than a dozen films and television series, most recently playing a pivotal part in providing completion funding for two feature films: "Keith" (starring Jesse McCartney, directed by Todd Kessler) and "Home of the Giants" (starring Haley Joel Osment and Ryan Merriman). Conquistador represents both films for worldwide distribution.

The completion funding for these two films comes via an intimate working relationship between Conquistador and Blue Rider Pictures. Blue Rider Pictures is one of the most prolific and successful independent producers in the entertainment business, with more than 80 movies and TV projects to its credit over the past 15 years.

Conquistador also specializes in structuring complex international co-productions and is well versed in all tax incentives both foreign and domestic.

Conquistador is in development or pre-production on a number of exciting projects, including:

  • EXTREME CITIES, a global financial drama that can best be described as WALL ST. meets TRAFFIC, to be shot on location in New York, London and Mumbai, with an esteemed legendary director attachment to be announced shortly, to be produced with Deepak Nayar (BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB, BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM)
  • HARDER THEY FALL,where the worlds of American football and rugby football will collide for the first time- Rocky on a rugby field and in the Welsh mountains, a man’s journey back to fulfill his destiny, the first of a slate of high concept international sports films to be produced with Mark Thomas and his Osprey Films.

  • Conquistador has handled foreign sales for dozens of films, including South Africa's all-time box office champ MR. BONES, Marvel Comics horror-action film MAN-THING, Patrick Swayze's ONE LAST DANCE, and 2004 Sundance Grand Prize winner PRIMER.

Conquistador's current sales slate includes RESCUE DAWN, starring Christian Bale and directed by legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog, NINE LIVES, directed by Rodrigo Garcia and starring, among others, Holly Hunter, Robin Wright Penn and Glenn Close, and THE GREAT NEW WONDERFUL, directed by Danny Leiner, starring Tony Shalhoub, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Edie Falco and Olympia Dukakis.
